Size 32 Fly

This is the first trout I caught on a Size 32 fly.  Didn't measure the
fish but approximately 15 inches.  Caught a few more after
this one. You can see the tiny fly in the picture near the "32" on
the label. Found the Size 32 hooks  at Blue Ribbon Fly Shop last week
in Mountain Home, AR.  Very nice fly shop and people there.

Orvis Superfine Glass

Orvis Superfine Glass 3 weight. The most fun rod Orvis
builds and my favorite so far. It is impossible to break one.

Colorful Brown Trout

This brown trout was not as big as it seems in the photo because
of the camera angle, but it was still a good size fish. Caught a
couple of months ago on a simple #14 sowbug pattern similar to
the one pictured below (but tied with a more realistic variation).

Special Thanks

Tradd had a great time tying flies at the Sowbug Roundup in Mountain Home, AR this weekend. One of the highlights of the trip was the result of the kindness of Michael Schraeder who Tradd met while tying flies on Thursday. Michael is an 8th grader, and is the current Southern Council Federation of Fly Fishers Junior Fly Tying Champion. He is a talented fly fisherman and an exceptional outdoor writer for the local newspaper, the Baxter Bulletin.

On Friday, Michael sacrificed his personal free time and was an expert guide to Tradd on a local stream. Tradd caught a lot of trout, and the two fish pictured below were the highlights of the day. Thank you to Michael for the generosity of your time and for sharing your knowledge. It was a great day that Tradd will always remember.

Dragonfly Nymph

Rainbow trout caught this weekend on a #10 dragonfly nymph. Had
only tied one of this pattern and another big trout broke me off a few casts later.
Will have to tie another from memory to be able to post a picture of the fly.
